When a ship is sinking, women and children get into the lifeboats first. There’s no discussion about that. It’s a basic moral principle within our civilization. Nor is there any discussion about whether, for example, a particular woman is infertile and whether saving her makes sense for the survival of the race, the nation, etc. Women and children are saved first.

Preserving assets, maintaining profits, maintaining the standard of living of the upper classes and everything else must be given lower priority. Firstly, because those at the top can survive better and then also because those at the top have more influence, so that when they suffer, a quicker recovery can be expected.
A system that does not respect this basic rule does not deserve to survive. All the talk of freedom and democracy can be put behind the rulers.
