Censorship has been applied in various times and regimes. But in few regimes have the censors been as terribly stupid and incompetent as today’s “fact checkers”. Maybe it’s because the powers that be are reluctant to openly admit censorship, and to hire censors of appropriate qualifications. So the only qualifications are a lousy education and such laziness that one doesn’t want to earn a living with one’s hands.
So they’ve got another screw-up on their hands. This time they have branded Czech member of european parliament Ivan David a disinformer for expressing the opinion that it is not in our interest to go to war with Russia. What’s disinformation about that? Do the censors think that Ivan David wants war with Russia and denies it? And they’ve given the official stamp of approval from the Home Office to this idiocy.
So the only qualifications are a lousy education and such laziness that one doesn’t want to earn a living with one’s hands.
In particular, it should not escape notice that the censors are now focusing on “narratives.” One could perhaps still understand if they were only looking at untruths. Someone says that 40 people died in a certain nursing home, and they are in fact alive. Someone else says that the Bill Gates Foundation has a sign over the gate, and there is no such sign. The Czech government and non-profit censors can’t even handle this, they keep getting confused and entangled in issues they can’t understand. But so be it. But censoring “narratives” is banning worldviews. Some people think women are bitches. Some people think women are poor and men are assholes. Some people like Russians and some people don’t like Russians. It’s basically feelings and basically unjustifiable. If someone wants to censor this, then they need to censor all thinking and feeling.
