In my interview with rock and roll star Pavel Cernocki, which is unfortunately only in Czech, I tried to stress that it is now very important to keep your distance and analytical mind (which are closely related). It’s terribly important at a time when a significant part of Czech society and other Western societies are completely fanatical – so much so that these people are unable to answer even simple questions like what do we want to achieve by sending weapons over there.

We need to cool our heads, start thinking rationally, protect ourselves and think what we can do to stop the killing.

I find it particularly sad when I see university professors, whose work I read with great respect, getting swept up in the fanatical crowd and shouting slogans that contradict each other. It’s like football fans shouting “kill the Russian!” or “kill the Ukrainians!” There may even be a purge against those who don’t shout loud enough. Isn’t that too high a price to pay for someone to keep doing their job?

And it’s not better on the other side. The “alternative servers” are once again full of conspiracies, tabloid style and emotion-mongering.They are not worse than the mainstream, but they are not better either. Fantasy stories against fantasy stories. Pro-Zelensky fanaticism versus pro-Putin fanaticism. Both are equally bad. We need to cool our heads, start thinking rationally, protect ourselves and think what we can do to stop the killing.
