This time I bring a little memory of the years. A friend of mine described it on Facebook, but we’ve all experienced it in different forms.

The young and very pretty girl dressed in such a way that as much as possible could be seen and that the see-through clothing emphasized her perfect curves. The men around her were understandably ecstatic and the young lady remarked to her grandmother, “This is terrible, men see me as a sexual object.” Discussants asked the understandable question (or criticism) as to why then she dresses so provocatively if she is bothered by the lascivious glances. Isn’t she some kind of weirdo?

It’s not! When such a girl in her prime dresses so provocatively, she is not dressing for craftsmen, salesmen, policemen, teachers, and perhaps not even for doctors, most lawyers or middle managers. She dresses for whoever can afford it. And she doesn’t want to undersell herself, which is understandable and right.

Sexual harassment -this is not an issue of intrusive behavior. Sexual harassment is primarily a question of which social class you belong to. Sexual harassment is the behaviour that is only acceptable for people of higher status.

Anyway, back to the discussion. MEP Filip Turek was one of the few who stood up for the girl. Of course he did! It is for people like Filip that the girl dresses seductively. He might be the winner, but not the others.

It’s also interesting that the “relationship business” masquerades as moralistic attitudes so well that even the actors themselves don’t realize it.
