It is only natural that the media tend to inflate and exaggerate everything. But it’s not natural that we accept it. One should be able to divide a media image by ten. The villains aren’t really that terrible, the heroes aren’t really that brave, and the groundbreaking events aren’t really that groundbreaking.
And in many European countries, people will continue to be prosecuted for their twitter posts.
Take Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter. It’s not going to bring about a revolution. It’s just not going to block some people who would otherwise be blocked, and that’s it. If Donald Trump hadn’t been blocked the November before last and was still posting his tweets, there might have been a few more heart attacks on the liberal side, but it wouldn’t have changed America in any way. Let’s not forget that he lost the election (whether by vote count or fraud) BEFORE he was blocked.
And in many European countries, people will continue to be prosecuted for their twitter posts.
The problem with opposition positions today is that they are not taken seriously, that and few feel the need to waste time with them. Not that citizens can’t learn about them. Social networks don’t even lead to the creation of opposition – on the contrary, they contribute to breaking it up into many bubbles and bubbles and exacerbating the hostility between them. It used to be the case in Europe 10 years ago that populist movements combined the popular energy and analytical skills of a section of the educated elite, but that’s gone. So blocking or not blocking on Twitter doesn’t change anything.
What is new, however, is that one man can beat the corporate bureaucracy.
What is new, however, is that one man can beat the corporate bureaucracy. It’s premature to talk about this being the start of a trend. But if it is the start of a trend, it would be a bigger breakthrough than the election of Le Pen. A shift from rule by an amorphous managerial crowd to rule by a few personalities would bring a different type of decision-making and different psychological traits that would certainly filter down to the lower noble classes. There would be an increase in single-mindedness and a decrease in the pure destructiveness that manifests itself in issues such as migration, the Green Deal and the war with Russia. But will this happen? Let us wait. We have one case so far and we don’t even know how it will proceed. If Elon Musk becomes the sole owner, will he then be able to bring the Twitter bureaucracy under control?
