Locked in conflict

Dec 14, 2024

Again, an observation from Curtis Yarvin. As recently as early February 2020, progressives were questioning covid, calling the epidemic meaningless and sabotaging any response. But by mid-April, those same people were calling for the strongest measures. In the meantime, has there been a major scientific finding? Not a chance. All that has happened is that the Trump camp has begun to increase the number of epidemic doubters, and progressives must, on principle, hold opposing views.

But the same thing is happening on the other side. Members of the various “alternatives” feel obliged to see everything the other way around.
This creates an extremely dangerous situation, where the parties to the conflict look at each other, adjust their views to the opposing side, and the problem itself is of no interest to either. Then the worst possible options are adopted.

Is there a way out of this? Yes, and it’s relatively easy. A takeover by the opposition. When Orbán or Trump or Fico is in power, they feel responsible for their countries. They don’t do nonsense just to have the opposite opinion to the opposition. Donald Trump, for example, has worked with Anthony Fauci in an exemplary way, because conspiracy theories are nice, but he needed to solve an epidemic.

On the other hand, it doesn’t work because progressives are completely indifferent to the impact on their countries.
