For the uninitiated, the linguist (and academic “ultra-leftist”) Noam Chomsky is, or rather used to be yesterday, in the social sciences what James Watson was in biology or Richard Stallman was in computer science. Purely personally, he annoyed me brutally, but there was no doubt that without his discoveries we would not have made progress in fields like machine learning, artificial languages, but also, for example, evolutionary psychology.
Watson was swept away like a little stinker about five years ago because he clucked something about differences between races and the heredity of intelligence. Nothing “big” really, if it wasn’t for the hunt for him, no one would have even noticed those words, but now he’s labeled an old racist and a creep. Stallman was taken down fairly recently not because he did anything, but because he – again very quietly – spoke out against the MeToo hunt for his colleague. So they made him out to be a perverted pig. But that was a classic “woke” agenda.

Now Chomsky, as an “old lefty” has written a lot of bad words about American involvement in the Steppe War and the threat of the conflict escalating into a world (and last) war. Again, nothing but the fears of an old hippie. Only times have changed, and the University of California at Berkeley has taken up his cause – now not from a position of “wokeism” but because kudos to Ukraine and Russians need to be beaten. And because we live in a connected world … already the attack on the Untouchable is being relayed by our little Russobians, e.g. at the Charles University in Prague.
