The events surrounding Johnny Depp’s divorce provide a good illustration of one of the ways in which conflict can be waged. It’s the “I want to hurt the fucker as much as possible. That’s all that matters to me.” The party to the conflict then takes actions that will ultimately harm him as well, or at least he must take a huge risk. It’s all about seeing the other party suffer.
This is quite common in divorce. And in Hollywood, everything happens in public. It’s kind of part of life.
But there are other situations than divorce. Like when you’re fighting a war against an alliance of a nuclear superpower and the richest country in the world, and you have one goal: to destroy them, to damage them, to cause them pain. No matter what the consequences to your own country. Is it an exaggeration to say that such strategists pose a mortal danger to their own citizens in particular?
Second. After his Amber Heard was convicted of lying and deceit, and after she was convicted, she issued a statement that said it was an attack on all American women. So be it. She’s in a tough spot and understandably defending herself as best she can.
Worse, though, is that there is an authoritative commentary in The Guardian that gives the convicted ex-wife her due, even going so far as to say that what happened at the Depp home is “typical of domestic violence cases.” Is it really typical of domestic violence cases for the victim to cut off the perpetrator’s finger, defecate in his bed, and spread horrible lies about him that completely destroy his existence? If that were the case, then victims of domestic violence would not deserve any protection. On the contrary.
It’s possible to understand girly solidarity, where women intuitively band together against those ungrateful bastards who find younger ones. But when you combine that with politics and political correctness, you’re in trouble.
It’s possible to understand girly solidarity, where women intuitively band together against those ungrateful bastards who find younger ones. But when you combine that with politics and political correctness, you’re in trouble. The attack is not on Depp, but on all the women who are beaten, humiliated and made a living hell by their psychopathic husband. You’re just like that affectionate gold-digger!, official feminism tells them via The Guardian.
It’s not the first time. YouGov research has shown that within the first year of MeToo, the number of Americans willing to believe rape victims dropped radically. Celebrity victimhood has made a career for itself, and it wasn’t just producer Weinstein who paid the price. The price was paid by ordinary girls living in poorer neighborhoods where the streets are unsafe and who can be mugged in their own apartments. You’re just like Hollywood’s gold diggers, the judges think, the cops think, and the cops think.
It’s the same every time. The rich ones make hysterical scenes and play the victim, the poor ones pay the price. It’s not men versus women or violent versus peaceful but rich versus poor.
