When I write about cognitive intolerance, it is important to add something more important Namely, that we not only need reliable knowledge (the scientific method), but we also need something that satisfies our emotions, calms our minds, develops our imagination, motivates us to do the right thing, etc. Rational claims are not enough to do that, no matter how well tested they are.

Karl R. Popper therefore proposes a ” demarcation line” that separates the scientific and the metaphysical (supernatural) so that both can live side by side, both can function and not be in constant conflict with each other

I think that’s a great principle It just requires cognitive intolerance Otherwise, every esotericist will declare his method to be scientific or “expanded science” or “new consciousness work” (or some other such gibberish), the line of demarcation is blurred, and we’re back to 16th century controversies again
