Secret deals are part of politics. Although they are non-binding in principle, they nonetheless express the current positions of two or more parties (or at least the willingness to pretend to have such positions). But when Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala signs a secret agreement, it has certain special parameters. For example, he has to take a picture and post it on social networks. Everyone needs to see how he looked. And everyone must see that he is with his idol and role model – the Ukrainian dictator Zelensky. Then there is a fuss about it and the government gradually hints at the details of the agreement, which they will not show to anyone. And in the end, they find out that the Ukrainian government has put it on the Internet. How typical.
What does the treaty say? That even if Ukraine is not taken into NATO, the Czech Republic will treat it as if it were in NATO. And more! We promise them much more than NATO would promise them. And we are making it clear that we want to get involved in the war as much as possible.
It’s still the same mentality behind it. The Czech liberal oligarchy is desperate for war with Russia. But the country has no war equipment or combat power. Well, at least let the Russians attack us! I wish they’d shoot the place up. We’d have 8 million dead and Czech politicians and intellectuals could attend Washington banquets as members of a heroic nation. How they would be admired there! What a life! Maybe they’d even make a movie about them. But we’re too uninteresting to the Russians. We don’t have any defence force. We have no arms industry. We’re too far from Ukraine to serve as a weapons transshipment point. So at least we make a fuss about every single drone produced, sign useless treaties and defame Russian graves. I wish they’d notice us and send some missiles over here! And still nothing. How frustrating!
